Only in Carmel, CA during the second week of August can you see things like this... I caught the Aston Martin CC100 cruising down Ocean Ave on its way from The Quail to Pebble Beach.

And its such a shame, because downtown Carmel is the shittiest place on the planet to drive.

Haha so true. Which is why he appears to be straddling 2 lanes.

It looks like if you ever rolled the car over you'd have the top of your head neatly ground off.

I want that. What a beauty!

Sometimes I just get a chair and post up in Carmel somewhere and watch the cars go by. It's great

I didn't know much about this car so I went to Wikipedia and found:
and acceleration from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in
over
4 seconds.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aston_Mar…
I am NOT impressed. My Armada can do 0-62 in over 4 seconds as well. My 1973 corolla could even do that (topped at 63.) Every car I've ever owned could do it in over 4 seconds!

Well gosh I sure dont know what the heck you mean, that pavement looks pristine. Plus those jagged rocks lining the roadway would be a welcome invitation for any low bodied front ends, or expensive rims should they accidentally wander to close to the edge of the lane. Might explain why this gent is straddling the white line...

The car is nowhere close to being safe or legal, being above the rules would be sweet.

They need to build more of those. And Jag needs to build more of those special XKRs with the fin thing. And Merc should pump out more Stirling Moss SLs. And they need to race.

There are massive amounts of exotica rolling through Carmel every August. Go to Flickr and search "Groups" for "Cars of Carmel". Keep a dirty tube sock handy.

Originally sold for $770,000 - one of two (this is not the actual concept car but the second one built).

Only if you want go to faster than 15 1/2 mph. Lost tourists.

I knew I recognized the location of this photo, just by the building in the background.

At least it gets driven, Nissan wont even let the IDx roll more than a feet feet per minute.

Yep! I'm actually the moderator of that group.

Proving that yes, it is impossible to drive that vehicle without looking like a massive douche.

Spent a great year at the Presidio of Monterey back in the late 70s and most every weekend involved a little time in the park right at the top of downtown Carmel. A beer or two over at the old Hog's Breath and maybe slide down to the beach. Great car (and people) watching.

I'm pretty sure that's the designer, Marek Reichman, himself. Gorgeous art, nonetheless

That looks like so much fun compared to Carmel. Look at all that pavement! And how few hyper-wealthy douchebag pedestrians are meandering out in front of your car. And not a stop sign for miles! Plus there has to be a parking garage somewhere near there. (maybe)
![]() 03/14/2014 at 21:38 |

fair argument.
![]() 03/14/2014 at 22:02 |

What are you talking about? That's the Place de la Concorde. Parking is scarcer and more expensive than Manhattan, and the wealthy douchebag pedestrians aren't even usually from your continent. It's a 7 lane roundabout, but none of the lanes are drawn and the priority goes to the right, not to the traffic in the circle.

Yeah, I was mostly kidding, though I figured there'd be some parking somewhere. I still hate driving through Carmel though. haha. It's just a beef from my childhood taking 20 minutes to drive to downtown Carmel, and then another 20 minutes to get 10 blocks down to the beach.

Heh, well, nobody goes to Paris for the driving. But nobody probably goes to Carmel for it either, I bet.

Saw it at the launch that week. It was fap worthy,

All of those people in the background should be ashamed for not recognizing rolling art & expression. I still hope the CC100 goes into production. That's a retro themed race car done right!
